The history of the Tactical Squadron 11 remotes back to the World War II, when the Swiss government decided that they need a better Air Defense.

In that time they created three new SQN. The Staffel 11 was one of them, equipped with the Morane D- 3801.

After the war the SQN continued their mission and received the DH Vampire.

In 1952 the SQN was reorganized and it received the actual name Fliegerstaffel 11. With the arrival of the

Hawker Hunter

in 1958 they added air to ground to their mission profile.

In the 70's they paintet a real Tiger - Bird....

After 1979 the SQN converted to the F-5 E with their primary role of air supremacy and interception as the secondary. The SQN pilots are also intructors on courses to form new pilots.

In 1999 the SQN converted to the F/A 18 C/D

In 1981 it participated in a Tigermeet to become an honorary member since then. They won 1 Silvertiger.
